Code of conduct: Seunshokkie The following code of conduct was drawn up by the teachers and coaches involved with boys’ hockey to ensure the well-being and happiness of all involved with hockey.
1. Dress code of learners Practices: u14s and u16s: a white top, navy hockey shorts & hockey socks
u18 have the privilege of wearing any sports clothing
Board shorts are not allowed to be worn to practices.
Matches: Official school sports’ outfit. No variations. Only plain navy
hockey shorts.
No thermal shirts.
Cycle shorts, if worn, must be the same colour as the hockey shorts.
Shin-guards are compulsory.
Gum-guards are strongly advised.
A player must arrive at a match in a school tracksuit or match clothes. No other tracksuits may be worn.
No jewellery.
2. Opwarming voor wedstryde Bymekaarkoms: ‘n uur voor aanvang van die wedstryd
Wedstrydgereed: 5 minute voor die aanvang van die wedstryd
3. Cancellation of practices • Cancellation of practices / changing of practice times will be the
exception and will be communicated via the team manager.
• Practices continue – rain or shine.
• Matches will not be cancelled until at the field – hockey is a
winter sport.
4. A player who arrives late At a practice: The coach will make him run.
At a match: The latecomer will be benched and, possibly, be allowed to
play in the last 15 minutes of the match.
5. Afwesigheid tydens ‘n oefening Indien ‘n speler TWEE oefeninge nie bywoon nie, sonder ‘n geldige mediese sertifikaat of rede, sal hy sy plek in die span vir die volgende wedstryd verbeur.
Indien ‘n speler te siek is om te oefen, maar wel by die skool is, word daar van hom verwag om die oefening by te woon.
Ortodontis-/ tandartsafsprake of ekstra klasse word nie as geldige redes vir afwesigheid tydens oefeninge beskou nie.
6. Afwesigheid tydens wedstryde Indien ‘n speler sonder ‘n geldige rede afwesig is vir ‘n wedstryd, sal hy
nie aan die volgende wedstryd deelneem nie.
7. Discipline of players Coaches, team-managers and parents are partners.
No swearing.
No booing of opponents.
No aggressive tackling.
No fighting with team mates or opponents.
No unsavoury remarks are to be made to fellow players, opponents, umpires or spectators.
Such behavior will lead to the player being dropped from the team for two weeks.
Receiving a red card is an embarrassment for the school and is viewed as letting the team down. This too will be dealt with by dropping the player from the team for two weeks.
8. After a match The players must:
• thank the referee;
• congratulate their opponents;
• thank the coach.

10. Support The teams will display mutual support by attending each others’ matches.
Each team is expected to watch at least one other team’s match.
The u14s are strongly encouraged to watch the u19s play in order to support the first team and learn from them.
